New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers – 8:15pm – ESPN
The Saints can give themselves a bit of breathing room with a win tonight against Carolina, giving them the best record in the NFC, and the overall 1 seed in the conference. The Panthers are looking for a couple things to go right for them to even have a chance to make the postseason. Carolina may not control their own destiny outright, but they must do everything they can to keep the chances greater than zero of making the playoffs. Losers of five straight, Carolina is on the outside looking in, behind both the Redskins and Eagles for a wildcard spot, with both of those teams winning over the weekend. Although they are playing at home, Carolina is a bit roughed up at quarterback this week, as Cam Newton is still dealing with shoulder soreness. All signs point to Christian McCaffrey if the offense is going to keep the game close. Defensively, most would assume that the Panthers would be the better of the 2 teams, but the Saints have held their own and are actually first in rushing yards allowed per game. This line is totally an action line at 6.5, but I guess I am a sucker and hopping on, anything less than a TD looks too sweet to me in this spot.
