Off to a wonderful 0-2 start last night and to kick off the site, as Houston covered late against the Blazers, meaning a half point loss, and a last second three kills a cover for Colorado in college hoops.
Oklahoma City Thunder @ New Orleans Pelicans 8pm
Another road team pick, as OKC takes on New Orleans tonight. With Nikola Mirotic out tonight I am surprised at the number and the fact that it hasn’t moved at all today. The Thunder “want to win big” according to Paul George, and with a fast pace tonight, this could turn out to be the case. The Pelicans have a big stretch of days off after tonights matchup, and may be looking ahead to the rest, instead of focusing on the game at hand.
Atlanta Hawks @ Dallas Mavericks 8:30p
Two young teams duke it out down in Dallas tonight, as the Hawks stumble into town on a one game winning streak. The Hawks picked up their first win against a team with a winning record over the weekend, beating Denver 106-98, giving them their 6th total win of the year. Dallas has been on a tear in the opposite direction, and have proven to be close to unstoppable at home. The biggest concern for the Mavs is the absence of Dennis Smith Jr., out again with a wrist injury. Hopefully next man up is not just a cliche tonight, as another rookie takes his place in the starting lineup. Jalen Brunson proved serviceable in a dominant performance by his team versus the Orlando Magic scoring 17 with three rebounds and 4 assists in the win. Dallas plays a bit slower than Atlanta, averaging nearly 7 less possessions per game, and I think that may play into the total being a bit too high between these two teams, especially if Dallas can jump out early to a commanding lead.
