9pm – ESPN
Back on track last night with a victory! I have to admit, I am pumped about a potential win streak brewing. My free bet tip tonight feels too good to be true. Of course in that spot, I usually burn big. But I will let the numbers speak for themselves.
If you want to stay up to date as to what my free bet tip will be each day, sign up for my email newsletter. I will give you the update as to what I like for one game each day that’s on TV. Plus, if I find any other games I think would be worth a bet, I will include them in the email.
Oklahoma City (25-15)
Less than a week ago I had a free bet tip for OKC, on the road, but as dogs in Portland. That one came in, and since then, the Thunder have been still having struggles. Losers of their last 2, the Thunder keep slipping in a tight race out West for home court advantage. Things won’t get much easier tonight in San Antonio.
Russell Westbrook continues to struggle to find his shot, hitting under 42% from the field, and under 20% from three in the last five games. He is still a triple double machine though. And if there is any problem with his game, it’s that people are too critical. Maybe tonight’s matchup will be just the thing to get him going again.
Paul George is picking up the slack anyhow, still putting the ball in the basket and leading the team in scoring overall. For all the three point woes Westbrook is having, George is making up for, shooting 37% from deep in the last five games.
San Antonio Spurs (24-18)
Major letdown last night for San Antonio. Maybe it was just a revenge game for Memphis from earlier this month, or maybe they just came out flat. Either way, a ten point loss keeps the road troubles going for the Spurs. They are 7-13 on the road this year.
The Spurs are a deep team, with multiple players who can lead during a game. Four players average double digits in points, with a fifth, Marco Belinelli just missing at 9.9 a game. Head coach Gregg Popovich is happy with the overall progress of this team, especially defensively, where they are starting to lock opponents down.
One of those scorers will continue to be out for San Antonio. Rudy Gay is expected to miss another game with a wrist injury, with no official timetable of his return. Short handed and on a back to back, doesn’t sound too good.
Before I get to my free pick, just a reminder that I post a pick for a game that will be on TV tonight. If you want to get the update in your inbox, sign up for my newsletter. I will not only alert you to when my pick is posted, but will toss in a couple other games from time to time.
When I saw the line this morning, I thought something was wrong. I can’t believe that OKC is only 1.5 favorites. While I am posting this I am actually nervous that it will jump up at any second. This is why I am wondering what I am missing for this matchup.
Any time I see a team on a back to back getting this tiny amount of points, it raises flags. But this line is too good to pass up. Especially with one of the key players for the Spurs still out.
So for my free bet tip, I have to say OKC -1.5. If you have a farm, bet it. If I had a system to rank this bet, I would give it five everythings- stars, bananas, thumbs, whatever gets you going. This just jumps off the page to me even if Westbrook shoots 15 threes tonight and hits one. I need a catchy name for these bets, if you have a suggestion, email me!
