Louisiana Tech vs. Hawaii – Hawaii bowl – 10:30pm – ESPN
Louisiana Tech travels all the way to Hawaii to celebrate bowl season after a 7-5 season. Hawaii gets an extra home game. Both teams look to have overachieved at times this year, with similar records (Hawaii finished 8-5). Before I get to my free betting pick, let’s take a look back at how each team got here.
Tech held its own through most of the Conference USA schedule, before losing their last two to Southern Miss in a close one, and a home loss to Western Kentucky. No real standout wins for this team, but they earn the bowl bid by winning seven, so here they are.
Neither team is really known for their defense, especially in the red zone, so if either LA Tech or Hawaii make the drive downfield, expect scores to happen. Lots of scores.
Hawaii looks to be comfortable in shootout games, 10 of their 13 matchups this year went over the number for tonights game of 61. There are some impressive wins on their resume, including a win vs. Navy, and the nail biter vs. San Diego State in the last week of the season. Not to mention the fact that to start the year they only lost one game out of their first seven.
Hawaii features Cole McDonald at QB, who comes in with an impressive season under his belt as only a sophomore. In fact, you may remember the team putting someone in his jersey against Wyoming to keep his injury status under wraps.
All of this talk about totals, and here I am about to endorse the exact opposite. Yes, Hawaii has no defense. Yes, Louisiana Tech isn’t much better. I can only say I expect scoring, and probably a close game, but I will take under 61 as my free betting tip for today. How about super close to the number – La Tech 31 Hawaii 28.
