Buffalo Bulls @ Marquette Golden Eagles – 8:30pm – FSN
Home court in college basketball has to be one of the biggest advantages in all sports. I know it’s extremely hard to quantify consistently, but you can tell when a team really dominates at home. Going into tonight’s game, Marquette has a record of 8-0 at home, beating both 12th ranked Kansas St. and Wisconsin. Hopefully they aren’t focusing on Big East play just yet, because Buffalo comes to town undefeated and looking to stay that way.
Coming in ranked 14th in the AP, Buffalo has had standout wins against West Virginia, and most recently at Syracuse earlier this week. CJ Massinburg has been lighting it up all year for Buffalo, shooting nearly 49% from the field, and over 43% from 3. Down Low their second leading scorer Nick Perkins is not quite center material height wise, but at 250 pounds he doesn’t get pushed around either. This has led coach Nate Oats team to be undefeated and ranked.
Marquette is no pushover here, with three starters averaging double digits in scoring, led by Junior Markus Howard. Averaging over 34 minutes a night, Howard and junior Sam Hauser combine for over 15 three point attempts a game, hitting over 38% of these tries.
Both teams are above average defensively as well, so this may be a game where baskets don’t come cheap, and should go down to the wire. I expect Buffalo to have the upper hand though tonight, and keep their winning streak intact as they leave Milwaukee.
