Boston College vs. Boise State – First Responder Bowl – 1:30pm – ESPN
Back to bowl business after the holidays. I know, there was plenty of great games to bet on over the last couple days, but I was wrapped up in the traveling, presents, kid stuff etc. So let’s get the Free Bet tip for today lined up and gear up for the new year with a win! If you ever want to get a quick tip in your email, sign up for the newsletter and I will get picks out to you, including my daily pick.
Boston College- Tough schedule for the Eagles this year, but this team had to surprise hanging tough against Clemson for a half late in the year. Outside of that, their best win looks to be at Virginia Tech after a win vs. Miami.
The ground game will be where B.C. looks to make their mark today, but that will be no easy task against Boise State. If they get into third and long situations expect Boise to dominate this game.
Boise State comes in off of a close loss to Fresno St. in the Mountain West Championship game, but looks better on both sides of the ball in this matchup. Senior Brett Rypien will be under center for the Broncos for the last time. Will he become a quality NFL QB? This game may be one more chance for scouts to answer that very question.
The offense also has a beast in the backfield, AJ Mattison averages over 100 yards a game and may be licking his chops against the Eagles today. I expect him to get quite a few reps if this game gets out of hand early.
The line for this one opened up as high as 3.5 points in favor of Boise State, but has dropped down to 2 in many places. I must be missing something here, because this matchup seems to tilt heavily in favor of Boise State. Maybe there is a pride factor I don’t know about, or maybe the oddsmakers are looking for Boston College to win the turnover battle, hoping that translates to a win.
Whatever the reason, I am loving the fact that you can hop on Boise State giving less than a field goal. So for my free pick, let’s give up the 2.5 and hop on the Broncos for a Wednesday win!
Boise St. -2.5
