8pm – ESPN
It all comes down to this. The long awaited matchup of the year for the rights to the national championship. This is 2019 by the way, in case you are having deja vu.
The biggest change that you will see tonight that I am pumped for is an 8pm start! Nothing is going to get me more excited than knowing I will be up past the extra long halftime. So before I get to my free bet tip, take a second and sign up for my email newsletter. I want to get you tips everyday, so you can win. It’s really that simple, at least the sign up part, winning not guaranteed.
Alabama Crimson Tide (14-0)
This will be the ‘rubber match’ between these teams in the championship game. After the playoff round, is there really any question that we did get the best two teams in the game to match up? Bama gets over 500 yards per game of offense this year. They are in another stratosphere as to who can even compete with them. Even a high powered offense led by a Heisman winning QB just couldn’t keep up the entire game.
The defense is just as dominant. They finished the year allowing only 311.7 yards per game to the opposition. Good teams did find ways to score, but other teams were punished. At home or away, Alabama did their job all year long.
Tua Tagovailoa is the household name that no one in your house can pronounce right. He is the best QB in Alabama history, and even on one ankle had no problems with Oklahoma. I expect shock and awe against this Clemson defense tonight. One way or another he will find the end zone.
So, you think Alabama is the only great team in College Football this year? Dabo would like to have a word with you. Clemson steps into the championship game unblemished. Plus they put a hurt on a Notre Dame offense that was quite impressive most of the year, holding them to only 3 points.
If you want to, replace the offensive and defensive numbers for Alabama above. Clemson mirrors their yards per game averages, and comes in under 300 yards allowed by opponents per game. This team hasn’t really been challenged since early in the year when they had one score games against Texas A&M, and week 5 against Syracuse.
Freshman quarterback magic was the difference to the game last year. Will that be the same story for Clemson? They sure hope so, as Trevor Lawrence will be leading them into the Championship game tonight. Alabama head coach Nick Saban knows what to expect, and has studied the film. “If anybody ever watched him, they wouldn’t think he was a freshman,” Saban said. 27 Touchdowns, only four interceptions, plus the line has only allowed 11 sacks on Lawrence all year.
So, the question is, where do I put my money? I find it really hard to bet against the evil empire in this spot, Alabama. They are just so devastating on the field. But if there ever was a new hope, Clemson would be the one to knock them off. It’s been done before.
For my free bet tip tonight, I choose neither! I just can’t figure out if its better to run with the 5.5 free points (opened at 6.5), or expect Alabama to cover. I am looking to the total for the free college betting tip, since I really don’t feel comfortable betting a team here. The total opened up at 60.5 and has plummeted down to 57 over the week.
Is Vegas expecting a hangover game? Will the defense really take over and it will be a grudge match? In this spot I disagree with where the books are going, I like the over. Consider it a free Field Goal you get when you lock it in at 57 and celebrate the payday in the 3rd quarter. Let’s win together!
